April 2008 Poll: And the Winner…

…is Spaceboy!

Yes, by a margin of 3 votes, the month of April 2008 will be Spaceboy month. That is 30 days of original Spaceboy stuff.

Naturally, the question posed by some of the readers will be: “What is Spaceboy? Why did 14 people vote for it over your more well-known and established memetic structures?”

The answer will be laid out simply in this introductory post as we prepare to move into the Month of Spaceboy:

“Spaceboy” is a spirited exploration of the implausible future.

In specific, it deals with the lives and times of Spaceboy and his closest friends as they attempt to navigate a precarious universe.

There is very probably some kind of grand narrative structure to the whole thing, criss-crossing and weaving threads of cosmic importance and moral teaching about the nature of things, as largely imagined by the author and any of his colleagues… but, for now, I’ll just start by telling little stories, and the rest can fall into place as it seems fitting to the reader.

In short: yes, I have no idea either.

Hey, look, some sketches…

The above characters appear in the Spaceboy serial (with rough sketches provided by the Liam Newton, pbuh)

During the first Spaceboy Special, we were introduced to some of the elements of the universe we will be exploring for the next month: M; dangerous, living numbers; Thiago and his Kernels on the “Unknown Planet”; weird powers; floating Bobby Helmet legal enforcers; and the ever-annoying Trans-Hantaan Virus.

Hopefully we can do better this time around.
