June Action: “Action Scene for Hanson”
Yes, the band. No, I only know “Mmm-bop.” Sorry if you hate this song; send suggestions for better songs to base action scenes on to brenden.simpson@brenico.com.
. . .
Indigo and yellow flowers rain down from air balloons, covering the green fields below. Out from stage left comes the Masked Bandit, hustling along with a dollar sign sack slung over his shoulder. He stops briefly, panting, to inspect the contents of his lifted loot bag.
MASKED BANDIT: “Woo, oh, oh, yeah.”
Masked Bandit looks up with shock to see June Action appearing stage left. He quickly grabs up the sack and starts to run again, kicking over a trash can as he goes. June easily clears the can and shorts the distance between them in just a few quick steps.
JUNE ACTION: “Yeah, yeah.”
June kicks out against the back of the Masked Bandit’s knee, sending him reeling forward into a puddle of mud, sack falling from his grip. Our hero shakes her head as she picks up the bag, a wry smile playing on her lips.
JUNE ACTION: “Are you a daisy or are you a rose?”
Before the Bandit can even reach for his gun to retort, he feels her heel crushing down on his wrist. With a rough tug and collar grab, he is back on his feet and facing his captor, June staring him dead in the eyes — still the belittling smile.
MASKED BANDIT: “Can you tell me who will still care about a few measly bucks in five years?”
JUNE ACTION: “I’ll care.”
MASKED BANDIT: “I knew I should’ve brought a getaway car…”
