June Action: “Sailing into Danger”
Glider pursuit of semi-truck is a car chase. Sort of.
. . .
Rising and racing through the sky on pale white wings, our June Action looks down to the highway below, eyes narrowed hawk-like on a lonesome semi-truck rumbling along. She taps two fingers to her earpiece and listens intently, making no sound of question or agreement — all orders will be executed without hesitation.
June pulls into a low descent, swooping directly above the cab of the truck. There is a sharp tug on the harness cord, and the glider reascends without its rider.
She lands hard on the top of the trailer, weighted boots holding her flat in a fixed balance. A small beacon transmitter is drawn out from her side pouch, and she quickly pokes twice on the front panel interface before slapping it to the side of the trailer. There is a low bing as the magnetic locking activates.
Inside the truck, Mitica the Driver puts a hand to his ear, pausing to listen, and slowly nods to his passenger; Wallace Kolbe checks the clip on his plated Glock.
WALLACE KOLBE: “One even shot, Mit, so keep steady ’til I click. Kolbe never misses.”
Wallace pulls himself up onto the top of the truck cab, pausing briefly to size up his adversary. He snickers as he aims; the smugness does not last as his gun flies hand and he is left with a throwing star sunk into his palm. With a warrior’s howl he tears it out and draws his arm back to return it, but he finds himself proven slow as one heavy foot crunches his face into a red mess.
The Driver does not have time to process the sudden fall of his partner as Jane swings through the passenger window, both feet stretched forward. He does not scream as the glass cuts into his arms and chest, just falls deathly silent, head falling back with an unpleasant crack.
JUNE ACTION: “That was a snap, wasn’t it, boys?”
In the distance, the glider gently floats to ground.
